Our Team

Laura Newman-Joyes:

Is BA QTS qualified in Primary Teaching and Performing Arts/ Drama. She is ISTD qualified and has completed her CDE. Laura loved teaching at the Pineapple Performing Arts School in Covent Garden and was, amongst other things, responsible for their educational outreach programme for 16 - 21 year olds - y@p.

Laura now loves teaching at LCN and Danson Primary school where the staff and kids make her day jobs so pleasant! Laura has taught in the London area for over twelve years and has also been a freelance performing arts teacher for the past five years.

Hazel Sommerville:

Is ISTD qualified in FDI Modern and Tap. She has her Associate Freestyle and has high grades in Trinity ATCL Musical Theatre, ATCL Speech and Drama and Grade 8 Group Musical Theatre. Hazel has appeared in Christmas Pantomimes, Aladdin and Sleeping Beauty for STV Scotland.

Adrian Benn:

Adrian Benn studied at St Dunstan's College obtaining A-levels (A grade) in Drama, English and Theatre Studies, the subject he chose to go on to study at the University of Kent.

In addition to being a keen thespian Adrian is also a talented singer and musician, playing the guitar, bass guitar, piano, drums and recorder. Adrian is also a freelance performer in the London area. After leaving university Adrian aspires to complete a teaching degree and become a full-time drama teacher. Adrian teaches at the Summer and Easter Schools and is our most popular tutor.

 

Arthur Jones:

Having known Laura since the age of 7, Arthur's grown up sticking very closely to LCN - first attending holiday schools, then assisting, and in the last couple of years leading drama workshops at Saturday School and sorting out the technology-based parts of the holiday schools, as well as the website. Now in his first year studying Theatre & Performance Studies at the University of Warwick, having achieved 2 A*s and an A in his A Levels at Alleyn's, Arthur is gutted to have had to step down as a regular Saturday School tutor, but he'll certainly be back for holiday schools and may pop up occasionally on Saturday's when he's missing everyone too much!

 

Emily Axson:

Currently studying for her GCSEs at St Dunstans College, Emily has also known Laura since she was very young and after becoming an assistant in late 2010, has become an invaluable addition to Saturday classes and holiday schools. She is extremely trustworthy, currently running drama games on a week-to-week basis as well as assisting Hazel with the dance routines.

Sam Lempp:

Sam has similarly been a LCN-er since a very young age, and we're now lucky enough to have his assistance throughout Saturday mornings and in holiday schools. Sam is currently studying for his GCSEs at Haberdashers' Askes, and a deeply valued addition to the team.
